Ticket Sales Assistant

SUMMARY:
The Ticket Sales Assistant’s overall responsibility is to provide courteous and effective customer service when selling memberships, donations, performances, workshops, and museum activities at the Center for Puppetry Arts.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Sell tickets to all events at the Center for Puppetry Arts
  • Process group sales orders and follow through with all procedures including confirmation of orders and finalizing payment of orders with group leaders
  • Sell memberships to all customers.
  • Support the Ticket Sales Director and Ticket Sales Supervisor as needed.
  • Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends and around holidays, as needed.
  • Sales Calls when needed to groups to encourage early booking
SKILLS REQUIRED:
Position requires ability to:
  • Demonstrate exceptional skills in customer relations, communications and problem solving.
  • Operate windows based computerized ticketing system. Tessitura preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with other in both oral and written form.
  • Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines. 
  • Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results.
  • Work independently, exercising judgment and initiative.
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, patrons and others encountered in the course of employment.
  • Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or G.E.D. and one (1) year ticket related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferable with the Tessitura ticketing system.

Collections Manager
The Center for Puppetry Arts Museum seeks a Collections Manager to assist in all areas of collection management and exhibition registration. Reporting to the Curator of Exhibits, the incumbent will assist with management of the collection management database system (PastPerfect) and assist with permanent collection and temporary exhibitions, including processing acquisitions and condition reporting. The incumbent will assist with exhibition development projects, including, but not limited to, installation and de-installation of special and permanent exhibitions and oversee daily maintenance of the permanent and special exhibition galleries. The Collections Manager will also supervise Library patrons and volunteers.  This is a part-time position (30 hrs/wk) with some benefits.

Requirements:
Successful candidates must be extremely detail oriented, self-motivated, and possess a B.A. in Anthropology, Art History, Museum Studies or related field (M.A. preferred). Candidates will have a minimum of 2 years museum experience in registration and/or collection management with demonstrated proficiency in database management (PastPerfect experience is a plus). Candidates must have knowledge of standard museum policies and procedures according to AAM standards and knowledge of standard museum cataloguing systems. The ideal candidate will possess patience, persistence, flexibility, and a good sense of humor.

Internships
Interns at the Center for Puppetry Arts are an integral part of the departments, and as such, their ideas and input will be valued. Payment will be the items produced that the intern can put into his/her portfolio. In addition, interns will receive 4 free tickets to all family performances, and 2 free tickets to all adult performances during the internship, as well as a 20% discount in the Center’s Museum Store. Stipends may also be available.

Internship from February - May, duration of 12-15 weeks

Development:
The Center for Puppetry Arts seeks an intern to assist the Development department in day-to-day activities. Duties include assisting with writing and production of fundraising appeals; researching potential contributors and fundraising ideas; and assisting with the planning, organization and logistics of cultivation parties and other special events.

Marketing:
Marketing interns assist the Marketing Director, Marketing Coordinator, and/or Audience Development Manager in day-to-day activities of the Marketing department. Duties include assisting with cross promotions; writing letters and other promotional copy; distributing Center material; and researching potential audiences.

Graphic Design:
The Center for Puppetry Arts seeks an intern to assist the Graphic Designer. Duties include producing the Center’s online study guides; assisting the design of ads for various publications; updating the Center’s Web site; and assisting the design of programs for Center performances.

Production:
Production interns assist in various aspects of the day-to-day activities of the Production department, such as scenic carpentry, scenic painting, puppet building, costume building, lighting installation, etc.
